Something I learned in therapy was the encouraging phrase: “Great awareness!”
I’d say, “I feel disempowered and enraged,” and my therapist would reply, “Great awareness, Virgie!”

What did he mean? He meant that on my journey toward healing, the simple ability to notice how I was feeling was something worth celebrating. Maybe you’ve had a thought like, “I hate how I look,” or “If my body just did ______,
